The Annual Thanksgiving Snowmobile / ATV Swapmeet and Vintage Show

The Thanksgiving Snowmobile and ATV Swapmeet and Vintage Show was a good time. The weather was decent and we had lots of laughs.

We want to thank the vendors that rise early and make there way here and hope you were able to make some sales. The Vintage Enthusiasts did a great job again this year. We had many great sleds from days gone by here to check out and reminisce over. Stay tuned here as we will be posting pics. Also see the SnoTraveler article where we will have pics of the happy winners of the vintage categories.

The OVSC was able to sell many of NHSA Super Raffle Tix here at the Swapmeet and Vintage Show. We had this seasons grand prize here for everyone to ogle. Good luck to all that hold a ticket!

Thank you to all our volunteers that participated in making our visitors feel welcome, dished out chili and poured coffee.

As usual a big shout out to YANKEE SMOKEHOUSE!!! They are always available to help our club and area clubs events be successful.  Please visit them when you come through via trail or road.

Trail Work Parties

These past few weeks we have had trail work parties. We had one the Sunday after the Swapmeet also. Again we want to thank all you folks that are coming out to lend a hand. We hope that you are having a good time working outdoors on our trail system. When the snow flies you’ll now have a few more friends to ride with too.

NHSA Grass Dargs Fundraiser

We are looking for volunteers to work the NHSA Grass Drags this fall. Every year we have a few dedicated club members go down and earn money for the club. The NHSA pays $10/ man hour. There are training seminars scheduled this summer for those that want to volunteer during the event. However, if you can’t make the training session you can still volunteer during the setup and take down times. But you do need to do the training to work the weekend of the event.  The club is reimbursed $10/ hr for training, too. Below is the flyer the NHSA sent the club with more details. Please email us if you would like to help out by June 15th so we can get our list in.

Fall Trail Work Parties / General Membership Meeting / Dates to Remember

Fall Trail Work Begins: OVSC will be in the trails every weekend till further notice doing fall trail work. We will be meeting at Canoe King / OVSC Headquarters each weekend morning and head out from there. 8:30 is when we would like to leave the parking lot so getting there around a 1/2 hour before and ready to go would be good. What we have planned is trail brushing and trail inspection. So bring protective eyewear, loppers, weed wacker  (if you have one) w/ a full tank of gas, gloves etc. If you have any questions you can email or give us a call. 1-603-323-7442 ask for John or Mitchell. We sure hope we have good turnouts as the trails really have overgrown.

General Membership Meeting: Our first General Membership Meeting was held this past Saturday. We discussed the upcoming season, club operations, equipment maintenance and events. Help Wanted, Grass Drags

We received the following email from George Kaye.

I just want to remind everyone that the Grass Drags are fast approaching, and they still need help.  I was told today that help is needed for the Drags on October 5, 6 and 7.  If you have had the training last year, you are all set to work this year.  For those that haven’t had the orientation, you will need to attend the orientation session on September 15 at the Shalimar Resort in Tilton, 9:00 am to 1:00 pm.
Help is also needed pre and post Drag time.  No training is needed for this work.  There will be work parties three weekends in September for pre-work.  All clubs recieve $10 per hour per person for every hour that you work, at  the Drags or at the pre and post work sessions.  This is a great way to raise money for your club.
If you are interested in working, please call Roger Wright at 381-5271.
PS:  I have tickets for this year’s Race Into Winter Super Raffle.  Only 1,000 tickets were printed, and they cost $20 per ticket.  First prize is a 2013 Polaris Indy 600.  All prizes will be awarded on December 18, 2012.  If anyone would like one or two, please contact me and I will get them to you.
George Kaye, Assistant Director, Carroll County.

We would like to thank all the members and friends that participated in the OVSC YARD SALE. This event helped the club make a few dollars and gave us a chance to get together on a beautiful Saturday. Steve and Sue S. brought a popcorn maker and it was a hit. Steve and Sue donated the proceeds to the club. Thanks guys!!! Many folks that sold their items also donated a share of their proceeds to the club. This made our fundraiser a success. Again to all of you that helped out we really appreciate it!!!
