GROOMER TRAINING

One of the most often asked questions of our Club members is “how do I become a groomer operator?”. Here at the OVSC we operate two large groomers, a Prinoth Husky and Tucker 1000 along with several small Skandic groomers. We do many miles of woodland trails and a large section of the Corridor 19 railbed. Trained and qualified groomers are always in demand, especially when we have a snowy season!

In order to begin training in our groomer program we are providing the two links below. The first is an excellent training video/program link to the NH Bureau of Trails Trail Groomer Operator Safety Awareness Video. Just below the video is the.pdf link to the required self-paced NHBOT certified grooming test. Interested candidates are requested to watch the video closely and then take the required exam. Once you have completed the exam please email your results, care of George Kaye, at email@ovsc.net. The Club will take it from here, get your diploma and contact you regarding seat time and training.

Grooming is a major responsibility and major commitment to our Club and its much valued members and riders. We simply ask that qualified groomer operators be involved in the Club, attend club meetings and work parties, when available, and be of help with machine upkeep and maintenance.

Our groomers, their maintenance, operation and training is under the guidance of our intrepid Trailmaster, George Kaye. Candidates are encouraged to reach out to George at email@ovsc.net prior to begining the training process with any questions they may have about becoming an OVSC groomer operator. Thanks again for your interest in this exciting aspect of being an active member in the OVSC!
